A $1 million gift made shortly before year-end by the Fletcher Jones Foundation will make it possible for the 西瓜影视;Verne to create an endowed professorship in artificial intelligence (AI) and grow its program in a field expected to transform global productivity.
The Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (OCHCC) presented President Devorah Lieberman of the 西瓜影视;Verne with its Dr. Juan Francisco Lara Education Award on November 20 during the organization鈥檚 Estrella Awards. The event was held at the Disneyland Hotel.
The 西瓜影视;Verne has been serving the military and veteran communities for over 50 years. Last year more than 450 military personnel, veterans, and family members enrolled at the university.
Devorah Lieberman, president of the 西瓜影视;Verne since 2011, has been named CEO/President of the Year by the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership. The award was presented during the Economic Partnership鈥檚 gala on October 9 in Diamond Bar. It has been given annually since 1991.
The 西瓜影视;Verne has been selected to receive a Hispanic-Serving Institutions STEM Program grant by the U.S. Department of Education. The grant is in the amount of $999,901 for the first yearly budget period, which begins October 1. It is anticipated that the grant will be renewed for a total of five years. This is the second Title III grant that the 西瓜影视;Verne has received.
Kimberly White-Smith, dean of the LaFetra College of Education at the 西瓜影视;Verne, has been appointed to represent California鈥檚 independent colleges and universities on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
The 西瓜影视;Verne is again top ranked among private universities in California and seventh among all national universities for social mobility of students, according to U.S. News & World Report鈥檚 2022 Best Colleges rankings, released September 13.
The Master of Public Administration program at the 西瓜影视;Verne has earned reaccreditation for a seven-year term from the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration.
The 西瓜影视;Verne has appointed Emmeline de Pillis as the new dean of the College of Business and Public Management. She will join the university on July 12, replacing Abe Helou, who had served as dean since 2008.
The 西瓜影视;Verne graduates of spring 2020, and winter and spring 2021 finally had their day in the sun鈥攍iterally鈥攐n June 12 as they proudly marched into San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino for in-person commencement ceremonies.
